About This Place

MD Oriental Market is a vibrant and expansive Asian grocery store situated at 7580 49th Street N in Pinellas Park, FL. This one-stop destination offers an impressive variety of authentic Asian ingredients, fresh produce, live seafood, and specialty goods that cater to a wide spectrum of culinary enthusiasts and cultural connoisseurs alike.

Stepping inside MD Oriental Market feels like embarking on a sensory journey across Asia. Customer Toni Thompson shares her awe at the “wealth of all foods and products from Asia,” highlighting the live Dungeness crabs swimming in tanks—a unique experience that beckons shoppers to seek assistance from attentive staff rather than tackling the task alone. This level of expertise enriches each visit, making customers feel supported and respected in their search for authentic ingredients.

The market’s array of offerings is extraordinary. From rare pantry staples such as preserved duck eggs, Taiwanese buns, and mango pickles to a staggering variety of rice noodles praised by Lesley Mullen, who calls the selection “endless,” every aisle promises discovery. Patrons who crave bold flavors will be delighted by the naturally crafted kimchi, available at reasonable prices, as well as exotic fruits like durian showcased in multiple forms—a testament to MD Oriental Market’s commitment to truly representing Asian culinary diversity.

Hungry shoppers can easily grab a quick bite at the on-site restaurant, recommended by Lesley for its delicious egg rolls that perfectly complement the immersive shopping experience. The food bar serves freshly made items that further capture the essence of Asian cuisine, making it an ideal stop whether for a leisurely lunch or an appetizer before diving deeper into the market’s extensive stock.

For those searching specific ingredients, MD Oriental Market remains a trusted resource. Dani McDonald detailed visits focused on matcha powder, green tea mochi, and coconut milk, reflecting the store's strong selection of Japanese grocery staples, although some specialty items like hojicha powder and matcha whisks may be harder to find. Nonetheless, the market’s commitment to variety ensures that even the most discerning shoppers can find hard-to-spot items, a fact echoed by d zarnick, who celebrated the market’s “totally fabulous” and “very large” selection of goods alongside a welcoming, well-mannered staff.

Whether you are a nostalgic food lover seeking those treasured tastes from childhood or a culinary explorer diving into new Asian flavors, MD Oriental Market stands out as a cultural treasure trove. It is a place where rows upon rows of imported snacks and ingredients evoke memories, spark curiosity, and inspire delicious adventures. The dedication to authentic products, stellar customer service, and the lively atmosphere combine to create a shopping experience that feels both personal and adventurous—truly a gem in Pinellas Park’s vibrant food scene.

What a wealth of all foods and products from Asia. I chose some live Dungeness crab in a wall of tanks with live seafood. Ask for help from staff. Do NOT do this yourself. I found food in various forms, meats cut to order, packaged meats including tongue, frozen, hot bar items ready to eat. Durian, the worlds stinkiest fruit came in many forms. The produce section focuses heavily on Asian fruits like whole durian and dragonfruit and huge Korean pears. I found some chips I found a whole section of beautiful chopsticks and bought my grand kids some beginner chopsticks. I found household products and clothes. Plan to spend time here just exploring. Accessible double automatic doors. Accessible venue with large department signage in English and Vietnamese. Aisles signs are fairly legible in 2 languages Van accessible free parking in large lot shared with several venues

This place is a treasure trove for anyone who grew up with flavors you can’t quite explain—but know exactly when you taste them again. Rows upon rows of rare finds from across Asia—canned fried gluten, preserved duck eggs, Taiwanese buns, mango pickles, and Thai-imported snacks that made me do a double take. Some brands I hadn’t seen since I was a kid. Others I never thought I’d see outside Chinatown. One small thing though—worth noting: Some imported products like the yellow pickled mangoes are marked only with a LOT number, with no clear expiration date. Now, I get that many dried or pickled items have long shelf lives, but still, a date helps build trust—especially when it’s food. (Yes, I read labels like a retired customs officer.) The store was clean, well-stocked, and had enough weird, wonderful options to keep me browsing longer than planned. Staff were helpful and quick at checkout, even during a rush. I came for soy sauce. I left with a full cart and a full heart.

This market has EVERY thing. The selection of rice noodles is endless. The kimchi has all natural ingredients and is reasonably priced. If you get hungry while shopping just buy yourself a egg roll at the restaurant.

Great Asian store that offers wide selections of products from all over Asia. I was specifically looking for filipino products to bring back to my family 2 hours away. I'm glad to come home with some pasalubong since we don't have asian store where we live.
